A will is a legal document made by a person called the testator in which he declares how his properties are to be distributed after his death. If a will is made by a female, she will be called a testatrix. In this legal document, the testator will also appoint a person called the executor to gather all the assets, pay off the debts and divide the properties accordingly as stated in the will. The will will only take effect when the person dies. Hence the executor upon the death of the testator will open the will. If the sole lessee of a HDB flat has died with a will, the HDB flat will be distributed according to the deceased's will. There are formal and legal requirements to be followed when you make a will. Hence to avoid the problem of your will being invalid, it is advisable to seek a lawyer's advice. Ten precedents on will are annexed to this document.
